Our last Unconference before the summer is happening in 14 days.
We hope you are as excited as we are.
But before we start: if you like what we do, if you like what you are reading, share it with others, and/or subscribe. We rely on word of mouth. Come to the events we organize, tell people about them, bring people that could benefit from them or benefit the events. If you really like what we’re doing, you can book a 1:1 session with one of us to find out what it’s like to work with us.
PRE-PROPOSED SESSIONS
To whet your appetite, here are some pre-proposed sessions:
IFS + Finger Puppets! - Melissa Sandfort
A short demo of using finger puppets or other objects to unblend from and externalize parts!
(this was immensely popular last event)
Bringing IFS to Tech Leaders - Ally Sprague
Let's explore how to bring IFS to tech and business leaders. What techniques are most effective in this context? What adjustments need to be made to the model to suit this specific population?*
Expanding Our Definitions (And Experiences) of Self-Energy - John Clarke
This session will focus on broadening personal definitions and lived experiences of Self and Self-Energy, with an emphasis on incorporating Eastern spirituality-based concepts of self-energy.
Beyond “Self-Leadership”: Exploring Alternative Concepts of Self in Partswork - Ash Chudgar
In IFS theory, human systems are naturally organized hierarchically: the Self leads, the parts follow. Despite the centrality of “Self-leadership” in IFS, however, people actually experience their sense of self in a vast diversity of forms. This informal session will explore various conceptions of “Self” to open new avenues for healing and liberation.
Easy, Effortless Unburdenings with the Sedona Method - Nicole Freed
The Sedona Method is a method of emotional releasing that allows one to rapidly discharge unprocessed emotions. Combining it with IFS unburdening step allows for organic, effortless unburdening.
Positive Qualities/Parts Game - Karen Locke
We will start with a guided meditation and suggest some resourceful parts you might recognize inside (e.g., the adventurer, the wise part).
You'll be given questions to help you listen intentionally to these parts. Sharing is optional.
Aligning Your Life - Alex
Learn how to map the parts that emerge around a life goal and how to agree on small, practical, testable experiments to explore how it feels to have them not pushing in different directions.
Peer Supervision - Pau
Primarily aimed at fellow practitioners (but open to everyone), Pau will hold an open space for questions regarding IFS practice. Participants are invited to share practice challenges and support one another. Strict client confidentiality will be required.
We also received some resounding “maybe” from big and not-so-big names (in the IFS and Therapy and Dharma world, maybe not “stop in the street to ask for autograph” famous). They could come. It is a participatory event, so the only way to find out is to come yourself.
A request for forgiveness
Thanks to some of you letting us know, we realized after proposing the event that it will happen on Yom Kippur, and we know that this is a very special day for some of you, and that this will make it hard (or impossible) for some to participate.
We are sorry: we do not check calendars, apart from our own to see when we have an available weekend. We will try to be more careful next time.
HOW TO PREPARE
Nothing really to prepare in advance, as it is a participatory and co-created event.
Everything that follows is to make sure you are actually able to join.
If you have a topic you want to bring, that’s plenty. It can be an open discussion, a workshop, an idea for a workshop, a question. They often emerge totally improvised during the event, when we realize that “oh, now I want to share/exchange about […]”.
We will be using Zoom.
Please make sure that:
* you have an account, you know the user name and password, and that you can access it
* that Zoom is installed and up to date
* you use a computer or laptop, as navigating the schedule on a smaller device is challenging. With around 200 participants, it's almost impossible to offer 1:1 technical support.
Check your time zone. We start at 4pm CET, we do not know when that is in your time zone, unless you are in CET.
Follow the link for the times in different time zones. Please make sure about yours. People have been disappointed in the past about missing the event, and there is not much we can do about that.
(We do not record the event.)
This is the living schedule.
Make sure that you can access it. We will use it to co-create the program. It will become editable during the event.
Please note the times are indicative, until we start the event. If you show up for a specific time slot, it could be already started, or happening 20’ later. Please give or take around 20’ for the times, apart from the starting time. We start on time.
We also have an FAQ, and you can find out more about the event on our website or, just email us at hello@ifs-collective.com.
Most of all: get excited, and share the enthusiasm
Share the event, tell people, or just come yourself.
THE USUAL DISCLAIMERS
This is NOT an official IFS-Institute training, or a setting for receiving therapeutic work.
A COMMERCIAL INTERLUDE
We do not organize the Unconference to make money, and yet some of our parts like being able to pay for bills and food. We do that by offering IFS therapy and IFS coaching sessions. (See here if you are curious about the difference; we will write a longer post about it someday). So if you feel called, or know someone that wants to dip into this world, feel free to explore booking a session with one of us.
